There is no way to know everything about the one you love and plan to marry, even through a lifetime together.

But, there are so many common issues that arise in marriage that can create difficulties if you haven't anticipated them. Decision making about careers, finances, extended family, children, sex, spiritual matters, household responsibilities, time spent together....

When you marry, some of the decisions that each of you made independently need to be made together. These decisions are affected in many ways by gender and our family experiences which have formed our habits, values, and our expectations.

Premarital counseling introduces issues that each of you may not have considered, ones that often create problems in marriage. Many conflicts arise because of the difference between your expectations and those of your fiancė and
the realities of married life. Counseling before marriage is an opportunity to discover the  ways each of you approaches and deals with difficult issues that arise in marriage.

In counseling, you learn much more about the person you love and how to avoid common pitfalls.
